This summer, I, along with a group of students and volunteers from Belen Jesuit, will be traveling to the Dominican Republic to build aqueducts for the people of La Colonia and La Yuca, as part of Belen Youth Missions. These communities do not have running water or dependable electricity.
Our group will lay down 4.5 miles of pipe to replace the existing non-functioning aqueduct which is over 40 years old. The new system will include two water tanks with the capacity to hold 20,000 gallons of water and hydroelectric power.
